Minding Your Thoughts
A Biblical Overview of Obtaining and Maintaining a Biblical Thought Life
I Corinthians 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
While we will never have the complete mind of the Lord, we do have the revealed mind of Christ. His mind is revealed to us through the Word of God. To know the mind of Christ concerning a certain matter, search the Scriptures, they, in conjunction with the Holy Ghost’s leadership, can reveal His mind.
Life experience teaches that knowing the revealed mind of Christ is much easier than performing the mind of Christ. This is the great conflict. Upon reading I Corinthians 2 it will be noticed that Paul is comparing the wisdom of this world with the wisdom of God. Today this battle rages in the mind of every child of God. The natural mind and the spiritual mind are oftentimes in conflict. They war against one another.
Years ago, a friend of mine had a habit of walking up behind me and pinching me on the arm under the bicep (go figure). One time he did this just a little too hard, catching me off guard. I turned to him, and to be frank, the natural mind was telling me to strike back, hard. But in an instant the spiritual mind reminded me about not being a brawler (I Timothy 3:3), turning the other cheek (Matthew 5:39), and the command to live peaceably with all men (Romans 12:18). It was amazing how quickly this debate took place in the mind. Lighting fast!
Praise the Lord that we have the mind of Christ, or at least that portion of the mind of Christ we need to live this life pleasing to Him. That should be the priority for those who know Him as the Christ, as the Messiah.
May the Lord Bless and be pleased with your thought life today.
